House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic leaders are expected to attend a town hall meeting on insurance at 5:30 p.m. Monday in Bay St. Louis.
U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor, D-Bay St. Louis, will host this third annual meeting. Taylor is serving on a conference committee that is working on a bill to offer wind coverage through the National Flood Insurance Program.
A panel speaking at the meeting will include homeowners, a builder and others who will talk about insurance problems since Hurricane Katrina. Taylor’s office said he is continuing to document the need for a federal multiple-peril insurance policy.
The delegation includes House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., and other members of Congress.
Before the town hall meeting at Our Lady of the Gulf on Beach Boulevard, the group will tour Louisiana and Mississippi to see how recovery is progressing
